Every adversity, every failure, every heartache
carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.
This week we’re going to meet people (and an animal or two) who have transformed their greatest suffering into higher purpose.
You see, I believe that self-compassion is best learned through role modeling. Unfortunately far too few of us have had proper exemplars. So in order to teach you how to become more compassionate with yourself, I’m want to introduce you to men and women who have figured it out the hard way—through great suffering.
Personally, I hope you never experience great suffering in life. I hope that your suffering is much like mine—occasional headaches, minor irritations, and sleepless nights. While some of us find great suffering rare, others endure tragic accidents, painful losses, and dark nights of the soul.
Humans can be resilient, and adversity can be a great teacher.
This week’s heroes will share how they transformed suffering into strength, and each one of us can learn from their courage and bravery.
Think of someone you personally know who has experienced and overcame great suffering. Shoot them an email or give them a call. Let them know you’re participating in this 30-Day Self-Compassion Challenge. Ask them what self-compassion tools they learned. Enjoy connecting with a wonderful self-care role model, and remember they are someone you can reach out to if you are ever in need.
